Nestled at the foot of the Chiltern Hills in an area of

outstanding natural beauty

Abbey Farm is a 270 acre farm located a short distance from the quiet market town of Thame on the borders of Oxfordshire with Buckinghamshire. Only minutes from Junctions 7 & 8 of the M40 it is extremely well suited to anyone wishing to get away for that idyllic, tranquil break be it for a short stay or longer.
With a footpath and bridleway a few hundred yards from the cottage, a cycle path at the farm entrance which links to the Phoenix Trail cycle route and private walks and fishing along the River Thame that runs through the farm, you have much to enjoy on your doorstep!
Whilst a car is handy for visits to nearby attractions such as Waddesdon Manor, Blenheim Palace, Hartwell House at Stone (for a luxury lunch) or Chiltern Open Air Museum, there is plenty of public transport on hand. You can enjoy a rural location with the bonus of a bus stop at the end of the drive for Oxford, Thame or Aylesbury. Hardenham train station is a few minutes drive for London Marlyebone, Bicester, Banbury or Warwick.
Two very different properties are on offer; Red Kite Cottage, recently refurbished and finished to a high spec with careful design to create a cottage with a bright, sunny aspect. The cottage is ideal for 4 but if you have an extra child or two or perhaps an overnight visitor, then the sofa bed can be used. Then there is Kites Nest Shepherds Hut discretely nestled into the sloping rural landscape. Totally self contained, heated and insulated it provides a wonderful glamping experience for two. Alternately combine the two properties together for mixed generation breaks!
Just minutes from junction 7 or 8 on the M40, Red Kite Cottage is in the hamlet of North Weston just a mile from the picturesque market town of Thame where you will find a choice of pubs and restaurants as well as the leisure centre.

Some of our customer

reviews

The fire log heater is a lovely touch outside and sat in front of that for 2 nights having a wine or baileys!!! Lovely pubs nearby and great restaurants. Very rustic and loved it, wouldn't hesitate in returning!!!
Only a 5 min drive from Thame village/town which is lovely and lots of surrounding areas to explore! The cabin it's self is cozy with the most comfortable bed like snuggling down into a nest literally!! It has everything u need and the design is perfectly thought out! The owners are amazing not only do they genuinely care if you are comfortable they can't do enough for you! However, they do it from a distance so they don't disrupt your stay.
My 4 nights at Kites Nest was peaceful, comfortable with gorgeous surroundings!!! Not only did I need a few days of peace and quite but I'd given up smoking and needed to be away from the general population!! It was the perfect place to kick back, read, listen to music and de-stress!!
Well thought out, attractive and immaculately clean accommodation with everything we needed. So good to be able to take our labrador too. Loved the views over the fields of grazing sheep. Owners friendly and helpful, but did not invade our privacy in any way. The flowers, chocolates, fruit and wine were a most welcome surprise on our arrival.
We've been to a few holiday cottages over the years but none quite as charming. I loved the fact we were close to a working farm and my wife liked the fact that we were near Bicester village!
I can't thank Tim and George enough for making us feel so welcome. It's a lovely cosy cottage, and really well done out. Plenty to do with the kids, like horse riding or biking and stuff for grown ups like the lovely pub I think it was called the Cross Keys, would recommend to anyone looking for a lovely holiday.
“We had such a lovely week with the kids, and you can literally walk into the town from the cottage. Lovely and peaceful, just what we needed.”
